"trust the art, not the artist"

Suicide Food: Carnitas, Tulum, Mexico

Notice that for all the players in this perverse drama, none protests. The sacrificial pig is sweating in anticipation of the blessed event, the magnanimity just pouring off of him. Cutter obviously takes pride in his work, the way he holds the blade just so. (If the boiling water doesn’t do the trick, he’s there to finish off his amigo.) Snoozer lolls in bliss at the foot of the cauldron. Only Poker has a gripe: “¿Why am I stuck with the grunt work?” he mutters to himself as he stirs and stirs. “¡That should be me en la caldera!”
